You Know It’s Coming …
The new vibe will be this:
I was using WordPress before it was cool to use WordPress.
And, well, I was.
Ben and Mena, thanks for making lots of folks into Webloggers and advancing the state of logware. Also, thanks for pricing personal users right out of the MT marketplace.

I’ve seen this comment (or one very much like it) in a lot of places over the last little bit. I think this misses several things. One, they still have a free version available. The limit of “one author and three blogs” is not great, but certainly passable for most personal users. In fact, for the majority of personal users, they could just use 6A’s TypePad service at a cost that is almost exactly equal to any other hosting service that you’d be doing blogging on.
May 14th, 2004 at 4:22 pmOh, I understand that, and I actually think that’s what 6A wants. From a business perspective, it’s the thing for them to do. Thing is, you have a ton of power users out there for whom that is not an option—either that they don’t like a centralized hosting service, or they want to roll their own, or whatever.
The biggest hue and cry has been from some of these power users, of course—they’re the big dogs of the blogosphere. I think 6A will have forseen that. If they didn’t, they really didn’t think this through.
