My backlog is really shrinking, but I want to get some studio albums in here soon. [And yes, I've also been listening to Derek Webb's The Ringing Bell as it's been going through the mixing and mastering wickets, too. That album? Rocks.]

16 May 2006 [Cologne, Germany] concert bootleg of Keane. Great energy, with a few talkers. Three-and-a-half stars
9 Sep 2005 [Northampton, MA, USA] concert bootleg of Over the Rhine. I wish that I had both discs of this, because it’s good. Four stars.
29 Jul 1990 [East Orange, NJ, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo. Folks, there’s a reason that this recording sources some of the stuff on the Uncle Tupelo re-issues … because it’s great. Four-and-a-half stars.
30 Sep 2003 [Los Angeles, CA, USA] concert bootleg of Beth Orton and M. Ward. I got it for M. Ward, of course. Orton’s set gets two-and-a-half stars, and Ward’s three-and-a-half. Not the best recording environment.
18 Aug 1995 [Tinley Park, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Two stars. Meh.
25 Nov 2006 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Ahhh, the home crowd. Three-and-a-half stars.
31 Jan 2007 [Charlottesville, VA, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy. It starts off great, goes really meh, and then finishes great. Three stars, four if you cut out the middle.

Two weeks back was all bootlegs as I worked off a backlog:

11 Sep 1992 [Beloit, WI, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo. This was a good-but-not-great bootleg. Three stars.
17 Aug 1995 [Cincinnati, OH, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Three stars. It’s pretty average-sounding, but nice to have from the very early days.
13 Jul 2006 [Fredericton, NB, CA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Three stars. ISTR the energy being off.
2 Dec 1984 [London, England] concert bootleg of R.E.M. I’m not familiar with this era of R.E.M., and the sound’s just not that great. I give it two-and-a-half stars.
27 Jan 2007 [Birmingham, AL, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy. I gave it three stars. It’s pretty meh for a Tweedy solo show; those are usually a lot of fun to listen to because Jeff does a lot of give-and-take with the audience.
9 Jan 1998 concert bootleg of Derek Webb. Fun to listen to Derek from that long ago … man, his voice is different. Three stars.
17 Aug 1997 [Camden, NJ, USA] concert bootleg of Blues Traveler. Three stars … decent energy, good playlist, not the best recording.
6 Jul 1994 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Collective Soul. Now this was great. Great, great energy, and a good sound. Four stars.

Revisiting the iTunes Meme

So, 13 months ago, I had 2,951 tracks in my iTunes library. When Alex brought up my old tip on powering through unrated songs, I had to ask him how many tracks he had. Then I had to ask myself the same question, and the answer? 8500.

Yeah. With 5549 tracks added in the last 13 months, that’s 14 tracks a day. That’s like getting a new CD every day.

But if you watch the ol’ Musiclogging posts, this doesn’t surprise you. Speaking of which …

Because all questions coming in to my old Season Three entry relate to this topic, I’m closing comments there.

Update, 9 Mar 2007: Amazon.com has a page up for Rescue Me: The Complete Third Season. There’s a place there to sign up for info as it’s known. Worth doing, I’d say.

Update, 26 Mar 2007: It’ll be out June 5, 2007, a week before Season 4 starts on FX.

You’re still the rock of the family and the one we turn to when we need someone to listen. I know that you feel like you lean on us more each year, but I think the truth is that we all lean on each other more as time goes by, and I don’t know of any greater testament to the power of a loving family than that.

No telling everyone how old you are this time, but you only escape that indignity for a few more years. But remember, I’ll be 30 that year and you can throw that back at me and score massive points.

Twittering Away

Yes, I’m on Twitter. No, I’m not using it over SMS; I use Twitterific and occasionally the Web interface. I also am not set up to receiver Twitters on my phone. I think that’d drive me up the wall. [Okay, I know it would.]

Right now, I have my Twitter feed dumping into GFMorris.net, but … I’m not totally happy with that. I kinda want that content in a sidebar or something. If I do that, though, I have to jigger around my Planet templates. Worth doing, I guess, but it’s also make-work for myself when I have 1537 more important things that I could be doing. If I sidebar Twitters, I’ll also sidebar either the ol’ del.icio.us feed or just del.icio.us/gfmorris/gfmorris_comment. I mean, GFMorris.net should be all about stalking me, right?

I’m enjoying Twitter mainly as a place to vent. I need that in my life…
